Construction and Production

From the first planning onto construction - everything from one single source!
In the first step, the switchboard installation's layout is developed by our mechanical design department. Based on this layout design, construction and internal installation plans will be drafted by means of a CAD program and the control data for sheet-metal -, copper- and cable production works are generated. Our team’s field experience gained in many years as well as the basic information gathered, allow production within a period of few days only so that our manufacturing process times are extremely short! Applying high-technology CNC plasma cutters for the processing of sheet-metal, we are able to manufacture more than 25 switchgears a day. You can choose from different coatings in various colours that allow you to individually design your switchboards.

As regards copper works, you may have every confidence in the know-how of our qualified staff processing around 400 pieces a day. With its shortening, crimping and labelling functions of cable cross-sections from 0.75 mm2 to 6.5 mm2, our CNC cable manufacturing system allows fast finishing of the switchboards' “interior fittings”. Thanks to a number of approximately 2,500 machine produced cables a day which is combined with a highly productive number of handcrafted high cross-section cables, we are in the fortunate position to dispose of all technical facilities for a cost and time effective working. The mounting of low voltage switchgears on racks, a solution that had been developed in and by our company, allows a fast transportation and a safe handling
Our internal production flow is constantly being optimized. Only this way, we manage to achieve cost-effective solutions at a constantly high quality level. The certification according to the standard ISO 9002:2000 may as well give evidence that we also feel obliged to maintain these high quality standards in future. All systems have been designed and tested as to comply with IEC/VDE standards. Customer preferences exceeding these standards with regard to design, material or additional regulations, will, of course, be taken into account.

Our manufacturing sector – Interesting facts in figures:
The SEG manufacturing sector covers an area of totally 5,000 m². Using around 45,000 km of control cables and 45,000 kg of copper, 7,000 switchgears, a year, leave our company. In our storeroom that is 500 m², more than 4,000 different mechanical and electric components are always in stock.

We leave nothing to chance!
In accordance with the specific requirements of our customers, we engineer, construct and install switchboard systems of different types. All partially type tested switchgear combinations will be designed in compliance with DIN VDE standard 0660 part 500 or IEC 439.

The most important technical data are:

  • max. rated voltage: 1000 V
  • max. rated current of the main bus bar: 6300 A
  • short-circuit test as per ASTA – certification: 80 kA - 1 s/176 kA peak
  • type of enclosure according to DIN VDE/IEC: IP42 to IP54
  • variable bus bar system at the top/in centre/at the bottom

Various designs

Fixed-assembly unit design

  • Distribution panel with stationary mounted function units.
  • Incoming and outgoing devices are permanently installed.
  • Disconnection compulsory when working at the distribution panel.

Withdrawable unit design

  • Distribution panel with detachable function units (withdrawable trucks or racks).
  • Switchgears allow disconnection from current circuits under voltage.

Different types of subdivision

  • Internal subdivision into so-called “compartments” (form 1 – 4; IEC 439) by means of partition walls and coverings.

Purpose of protection

  • Protection from direct contact with neighboring function unit.
  • Protection from ingress of firm foreign substances within the function unit.
  • Protection from accidental contact with hazardous components within the function unit.

Effects

  • Reduction of risk to people and system during connection, service and maintenance.
  • Local failure limitation, thus quick re-availability of the whole system.
